The Dr. Bobby E. Leach Center or as normally referred to as The Leach is the fitness playground to FSU. The Leach provides 20,000 square feet of room to get your Swole on with weights or swim laps like Michael Phelps. Staying in shape is the main focus to accomplish and The Leach assists that in several
 Excercise Classes
The Leach offers many different workout classes to keep the FSU student stay healthy and in shape. The classes are set up around 3 different types of workouts.
  • Cardiovascular - Stimulating the heart and burning off calories, while having fun in Boot Camp, Hip-Hop Aerobics, Zumba, Spinning, and more.
  • Strength - Toning the muscles to bring out the true definition that lies beneath. Done through Ab Attack, Body Tone, GTS Core Strength, and many other muscle tearing toning classes.
  • Mind and Body - These classes combines controlled breathing with flexibility to strengthen core muscles. Offered classes factor mostly around Yoga such as Power Yoga, Beginning Yoga, Yoga-lates, and more.
These types of classes offer different levels of difficulty so anyone who is ready to excercise can do so no matter their workout level. Keep in mind showing up 20 minutes early for a class is a great idea since the spots fill up fast in every class.

The Leach offers all different types of facilities and services to its members and guests. Services include one of 600 lockers free rental for the day with exchange for FSU ID. A workout towel for 25 cents (workout towels are required to use equipment or be in the gym at anytime) or Bath towels for 50 cents. Equipment checkout can be done for volleyballs, basketballs, paddles, raquets, etc. with exchange for FSU ID.

The Leach is equipped with many different machines and free weights to maximize the opportunity of trying new excercises. This allows for the members to not be limited in their choices of how they workout and also keeps multiple machines open that legitimately work the same muscle group.

There are 3 levels that make up The Leach

  • 1st level is occupied with an array of machines consisting of Bench Press, Treadmills, Free Weights, Squash and Raquetball courts, and the olympic size pool. Not to mention excercise classes.
  • The 2nd level is filled with Ellipticals, Stair Climbers, and Spinning Machines providing a cardio active floor.
  • The 3rd level has a indoor track that is above the pool, giving a pleasant view of the water. Along with floor mats to stretch and workout on, along with excercise classes, basketball and volleyball courts.


 The Leach goes the extra mile to offer members the ability to take advantage of a different variety of services.

  • Nutrition Services -  How to eat on the go, good and bad foods, and supplements good bad or dont matter?
  • Body Composition Analysis - Gives the makeup of your body with percentages concerning fat and muscle.
  • Physical Therapy - Offered consultation on muscle and joint injuries. Also Provides excercise recommendations.
  • Message Therapy - A low cost way to relieving pain and stiffness to FSU students and Staff.
  • Fitness Testing - Program set up between members and a personal trainer to reach weekly goals and achieve a more active and healthy lifestyle free of charge.

Main point is if you want to stay healthy and in shape and avoid the "Freshman 15" go to the gym 3-4 times a week and eat healthy.
